Kiana is an award-winning video editor from Hartford County, Connecticut. She graduated from the University of New Haven in 2019 with degrees in Journalism (B.A.) and TV Production (B.S.). With a background in sports, arts, and engineering, nothing has been out of her realm of possibility. She often brings all of her passions together in her video work.
Kiana’s professional experience began as a freelance production assistant at theGrio, a Black-owned media outlet serving the Black community. There, she shot, edited, and produced content for the digital video team, eventually becoming Senior Video Editor. Her work spanned genres such as news, politics, entertainment, and docu-series, earning her three Anthem Awards in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Film, Video, Television, or Show Awareness & Media categories.
As an undergrad, she worked as the Managing Editor of The Charger Bulletin, the student news outlet of the University of New Haven. In addition to editing and approving articles, she wrote, produced, directed, edited, and hosted The Charger Bulletin News and The Charge Up, the university’s weekly student news and sports broadcast. Before becoming Managing Editor, Kiana did extensive MMJ (Multimedia Journalist) work for the Bulletin and served as the editor of the Opinion section.
Kiana’s passion is storytelling and takes pride in being able to carry her work over the finish line. She is ready and willing to jump into any role to get the job done, and hopes to continue to gain experience by exercising and refining those skills.
